General information and centre visits
Can I visit the exam centre before my exam?
Yes, but every visit must be booked and confirmed in advance. Please email examapplications@intuitioncentres.com. Walk-in and unannounced visitors cannot be accommodated.
We conduct examinations throughout the year. While an examination is taking place, only candidates and authorised staff are allowed inside the centre. Parents, carers, tutors and other visitors cannot wait in reception areas, corridors or examination rooms and should make arrangements to wait off-site.
We generally have more availability for pre-arranged visits during September, October, December and January. Appointments remain subject to examination timetables, staffing, school and centre term dates, holiday closures and examination-security requirements.
When requesting a visit, please include:
- The candidate’s full name
- Your name and contact telephone number
- The reason for the visit
- Several preferred dates and times
- The number of people attending
- Any mobility, access or support requirements
Do not travel until the exam team has replied with written confirmation. Attend only at the agreed time and contact us promptly if you need to cancel or rearrange. A confirmed appointment may occasionally need to be moved if examination or operational requirements change.
How do I contact the exam-centre team?
For visit requests and examination enquiries, email examapplications@intuitioncentres.com. Include the candidate’s full name and enough information for the team to identify the enquiry.
Does arranging a visit reserve an examination place?
No. A centre visit is separate from an examination application. An examination place is secured only after the required entry information, checks, fees and confirmation process have been completed.
Can a nervous candidate request a familiarisation appointment?
A familiarisation visit may be requested by emailing examapplications@intuitioncentres.com. Explain the candidate’s concerns and any relevant needs. Availability depends on the live examination timetable, staffing and centre-security requirements.
Can parents, carers or tutors enter the centre on exam day?
Only candidates and authorised staff are allowed inside during live examinations. Accompanying adults should follow the arrival and collection instructions provided by the centre and wait off-site.
Applications and candidate details
How do I apply for an examination place?
Visit our website and select Apply for Exams. Before starting the form, please read the Application Process page carefully. It explains the stages of applying, the information you will need, important deadlines and what happens after the form has been submitted.
Complete the online application accurately and check the qualification, subject, specification, tier and candidate details before submitting it.
Who is responsible for checking the subject, specification and entry code?
Candidates or the person submitting the application should check the requested qualification, awarding organisation, subject, specification, tier and entry code carefully. Any uncertainty should be raised with the centre before the entry is finalised.
Why does the centre require identification?
The centre must be able to verify each candidate’s identity. The exam team will explain which identification or supporting evidence is required for the application and on the examination day.
What should I do if the candidate does not have standard photo identification?
Complete the Non-ID form available through our Candidate Identification Policy and Non-ID Form page. The exam-centre team will review the information and let you know whether any additional evidence is required.
Which name should be used on the examination application?
Use the candidate’s full legal name exactly as instructed by the centre. Application details may be used on official examination records and certificates, so errors should be reported immediately.
Can someone else discuss a candidate’s application with the centre?
The centre may need to confirm the person’s relationship to the candidate and their authority to discuss personal information. Sensitive documents should only be sent through the method requested by the exam team.
Is an examination place guaranteed after an enquiry?
No. Availability may depend on the qualification, examination series, entry deadline, centre capacity, required components and whether the centre can support the candidate’s arrangements. Wait for written confirmation.
Timetables and examination day
When will the candidate receive the examination timetable?
Timetable and joining information is issued after the entry has been processed and the necessary examination arrangements are available. Candidates should check every date, time, subject and paper carefully.
What should I do if timetable or joining information has not arrived?
Check the spam or junk folder first. If it is still missing, email examapplications@intuitioncentres.com with the candidate’s full name and the qualifications entered.
How early should a candidate arrive?
Follow the arrival time stated in the centre’s joining instructions. Candidates should allow enough time for travel, identification and check-in procedures.
What should a candidate bring to an examination?
Bring the identification, equipment and documents listed in the joining instructions. Only examination-permitted items may be taken into the examination area.
What happens if a candidate is late?
Contact the centre immediately. Admission cannot be guaranteed and will depend on examination regulations, the arrival time and whether examination security can still be maintained.
What happens if a candidate cannot attend an examination?
Notify the centre as soon as possible. A missed paper cannot normally be moved to another date. The centre will explain any relevant next steps or evidence requirements.
What happens if two examinations clash?
Report the clash to the centre promptly. Where examination regulations permit, the centre will issue instructions about the order, supervision and timing of the affected papers.
Can a candidate choose the date of a speaking or practical assessment?
Speaking, practical and other non-written components operate within awarding- body windows and the centre’s available sessions. The centre will confirm the appointment; unrestricted date choice cannot be guaranteed.
Can food, drinks, phones or personal belongings be taken into the exam room?
Follow the centre’s written instructions. Mobile phones, watches and other unauthorised items must not be taken into the examination room. Any permitted drink, medication, food or essential equipment must meet examination-security requirements.
Access arrangements and additional needs
How do I request access arrangements?
Access-arrangement information forms part of the examination application process. Once your application has been reviewed, we will contact you about any relevant next steps.
We do not accept separate access-arrangement requests outside the application process. Please read our Access Arrangements page for information about the evidence, deadlines and procedures that may apply.
Does asking for an arrangement mean it will automatically be approved?
No. Access arrangements depend on examination regulations, acceptable evidence, the candidate’s normal way of working, approval where required and the centre’s facilities.
Can a candidate automatically have a separate room, laptop, reader or scribe?
No. These arrangements must be assessed and agreed in writing before the examination. The centre cannot provide an arrangement solely because it has been requested.
Can essential medication or medical equipment be brought into the centre?
Tell the centre in advance. The exam team will explain how essential medication, monitoring or medical equipment can be accommodated while maintaining examination security.
Can a parent, carer or support worker accompany the candidate into the exam room?
No. Candidates enter examination areas under the supervision of authorised centre staff. Any approved support must be arranged by the centre and delivered in accordance with examination regulations.
What information should be provided about mobility, sensory or health needs?
Inform the centre as early as possible and provide clear details about access, mobility, sensory, medical or communication requirements. The centre will explain what evidence or planning information is needed.
Results, reviews and certificates
How will examination results be issued?
The centre will provide instructions explaining when and how results will be released. Candidates should keep their email address, telephone number and postal details up to date.
What should a candidate do if they are unhappy with a result?
Contact the entering centre promptly to ask about available post-results services, fees and deadlines. A review can leave a mark unchanged, increase it or reduce it.
Can a candidate request a copy of an examination script?
Some awarding organisations offer access-to-script services through the entering centre. Availability and deadlines vary, so requests should be made promptly after results are released.
When are certificates available?
Certificates are issued after the awarding organisation sends them to the centre. Candidates will receive collection or delivery instructions and should ensure that their contact details are current.
Exam boards typically send physical certificates approximately three months after results day.
Can someone else collect a certificate?
The centre may require written authorisation and identification before releasing a certificate to another person. Follow the collection instructions issued by the exam team.
What should I do if a certificate contains an error?
Contact the centre promptly and provide details of the error. The centre will explain the awarding organisation’s correction process, evidence requirements, timescales and any applicable charges.
Candidate details should have been checked when the Statement of Entry was sent by email. Please review the name, date of birth and examination-entry information as soon as the Statement of Entry arrives and report any mistake immediately.
If an error is not corrected before certificates are produced, the exam board may charge up to £80 to amend the certificate. Checking the Statement of Entry carefully can help avoid this cost and delay.
