How to Apply for Exams

Our exam application process is simple and completed online through our shopping basket system. Follow the four steps below to reserve your exam place.

Complete your application online

Check every selection and personal detail carefully before you submit and pay.

Select Your Exams

Choose the correct exam entries from the list on our website and add them to your basket.

  • Check the series, subject, exam board and specification.
  • Select the correct tier, paper or unit where applicable.
  • Review everything carefully before checkout.

Access Arrangements

Select any required access arrangements during the application process.

  • Extra time can currently be supported when the correct evidence is supplied.
  • Laptop use must be added before completing your purchase and is subject to availability.
  • Arrangements are only confirmed when available and supported by valid evidence.

Complete the Application Form

Enter your personal details carefully and make sure all information is accurate.

  • Your name and date of birth must match your official photographic ID.
  • Provide your UCI / ULN number if you have one.
  • If you do not have one, enter NO UCI / ULN a new number will be issued where required.

Payment

Pay online through the shopping basket at the time of application.

  • Your place is secured only when the application form and full payment have been received.
  • Exam entries are processed with the examination boards in October (November series) or January (Summer series)
  • Your Statement of Entry will be emailed once your entries have been processed.
After you apply

What happens next

Keep your Statement of Entry safe, check your timetable and prepare everything you need for exam day.

Statement of Entry

Your SOE will be emailed after entries are processed in October or January (depending on the exam series applied for). It confirms:

  • Your personal details and candidate number
  • Your subjects, papers and exam dates
  • Morning or afternoon sessions

Check it immediately and report any errors.

Exam Times

Morning exams: start at 9:00am. Arrive between 8:30am and 8:45am.

Afternoon exams: start at 1:00pm. Arrive between 12:30pm and 12:45pm.

Late arrival may mean you cannot sit the exam.

Exam Day

Report to reception on time and bring:

  • Photographic ID and your Statement of Entry
  • Black pens and permitted equipment
  • A clear water bottle with no label

Phones, watches, earbuds and electronic devices are not permitted.

Results & Certificates

Results are issued in line with official exam board dates and may be sent by email or SMS.

Certificates arrive later. Collection or secure postal delivery may be selected where available.

Keep your contact details up to date.

Post-Results Services

You may be able to request:

  • Clerical re-check
  • Review or priority review of marking
  • Access to scripts

Fees are charged per paper or unit, not per subject.

Final Reminder

Check your exam selections, personal details and access arrangement requests before submitting.

Once the application and payment are complete, your place is secured and your entries will be processed in October or January (depending on the exam series applied for)
