Access Arrangements
Adjustments made before an examination can help eligible candidates access the assessment fairly, without changing the standard, content or demands of the exam.
What we can and cannot support
As a private exam centre, our access-arrangement capacity is limited. Please check the available options before completing your exam application.
What We Can Support
At this stage, Intuition Exam Centres can only support:
- Extra time, where approved and supported by suitable evidence.
- Laptop use, where spaces are available and the need is supported by evidence.
What We Cannot Support
We are currently unable to provide:
- Scribes
- Readers
- Separate rooms or one-to-one rooms
- Prompters or practical assistants
- Any arrangement not listed on our website
Evidence Required
Evidence must show that the requested arrangement is needed and reflects the candidate’s normal way of working. Please provide the evidence you already have; you do not need every item below.
Suitable evidence may come from several sources
Previous school, college, SENCo, specialist-assessor and medical evidence can all be relevant, depending on the requested arrangement and the awarding-body requirements.
Examples of evidence
Extra Time and Laptop Use
Both arrangements require evidence of genuine need and the candidate’s established normal way of working.
Extra Time
Extra time can only be considered where clear evidence shows that the candidate needs it and normally uses it during learning, assessments or mock exams.
- Incomplete or unsuitable evidence may prevent us from applying.
- Submitting evidence does not guarantee approval.
- The final decision depends on the regulations and, where required, awarding-body approval.
Laptop Use
Laptop use may be considered where evidence shows that typing is the candidate’s normal way of working. It cannot be requested simply as a preference.
- A genuine need must be supported by evidence.
- The option must be selected during the online exam application.
- If the website shows no laptop spaces, we cannot add one later.
How the Review Process Works
Private candidates often provide evidence from a previous school, college or specialist assessor. We review what is supplied and confirm what our centre can support.
Important information for private candidates
In some cases, further evidence may be needed. This could include mock-exam evidence completed under exam conditions or additional documentation from a school, college, SENCo or specialist.
- Requests must be made before the relevant deadline.
- Evidence must be supplied in good time.
- Late requests may not be accepted.
- Paying for an exam does not automatically confirm an access arrangement.
- An arrangement is only confirmed after evidence review and any required approval.
From request to outcome
Add the available extra-time or laptop option during your online application.
Supply relevant documentation as early as possible, ideally with your exam application.
We check whether the evidence is suitable and whether the requested arrangement can be supported.
Where required, we submit the application and supporting information to the awarding body.
We inform you of the outcome once the review and any required approval are complete.
Fees, Deadlines and Outcomes
Submitting early gives enough time for evidence checks, paperwork and any required awarding-body application.
Fees
There may be an administration fee for reviewing evidence, completing paperwork and processing an application. Further fees may apply if assessments, mock evidence or specialist input are required.
Any additional fee will be confirmed before work is carried out.
Deadlines
Deadlines vary by exam board and series. We strongly recommend sending evidence with your exam application.
Our internal deadline may be earlier than the exam board deadline.
Outcome
After reviewing your evidence, we will confirm whether we can support the request. Where an awarding-body application is needed, we will tell you the result once confirmed.
Reports and assessments do not guarantee approval.

Check official awarding-body websites for the latest regulations, evidence requirements and deadlines.
Submit your request and evidence early
Access arrangements are only confirmed after the evidence has been reviewed and any required approval has been granted.
The availability of an arrangement at our centre and approval under awarding-body regulations are separate requirements. Both must be satisfied before an arrangement is confirmed.
